Sun-sign dates are approximate; cusp dates can shift ±1 day by year. Chinese zodiac is based on Gregorian year — births in January/early February may belong to the previous year's animal.
International vs. East-Asian age
This tool uses international age: you are 0 at birth and gain a year on each birthday. The traditional "Korean age" counted you as 1 at birth and added a year every 1 January. South Korea standardized on international age for legal and administrative use on 28 June 2023. Japanese and Chinese traditional counting systems also differ; this calculator always uses the internationally standard method.
Frequently asked questions
How is my exact age calculated?
We count the number of complete years between your birth date and the chosen date, then the remaining complete months, then the leftover days. When the day-of-month hasn't been reached yet, we borrow the number of days in the previous month, which keeps the result correct across months of different lengths.
How does it handle leap years?
February's length is read from the calendar for each specific year, so leap years (29 days) and common years (28 days) are both handled exactly. Day, week, hour and second totals are derived from a precise count of whole calendar days, so daylight-saving changes never skew the numbers.
I was born on 29 February — when is my birthday?
In leap years it's 29 February. In common years this tool shows your birthday as 1 March (the day after 28 February), which is the most common convention. Your age still increases by one on that day.
What is the difference between international age and Korean age?
This calculator uses international age: you are 0 at birth and gain a year on each birthday. The traditional "Korean age" counted you as 1 at birth and added a year every 1 January. South Korea standardized on international age for legal and administrative use on 28 June 2023.
Can I calculate my age on a future or past date?
Yes. Change the "Age as of" date to any date — past or future — to see exactly how old you were, or will be, on that day.
