Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between inclusive and exclusive counting?
Exclusive counting measures the gap between the two dates (the end date minus the start date). Inclusive counting also counts both the start and end dates themselves, so it returns one more day. Use inclusive when you're counting days you'll actually be somewhere (for example, the number of vacation days).
Does it count leap days?
Yes. Day and week totals are based on an exact count of calendar days, so any 29 February inside the range is included automatically.
What if my end date is before my start date?
The calculator detects the reversed order and shows the absolute (positive) difference, with a small note so you know the dates were swapped.
Are daylight-saving changes handled?
Yes. Differences are measured on the calendar (date to date), not by raw clock time, so a "spring forward" or "fall back" day never adds or removes an hour from the day count.
